Our Manor 14-18 November 2022

Welcome to this week's newsletter

It was a pleasure to welcome so many families to Manor School on Monday for our Sixth Form open evening. It was really inspiring to see so many young people and their families engaged in discussions with staff about their future. We were delighted with the number of students considering Sixth Form from our current Year 11, as well as the many young people from other local secondary schools. Events like this are a reminder of the importance of aspiration and commitment to destinations and further learning.

As we move towards Christmas, we are really looking forward to seeing so many students representing the school in local events. In the meantime, good luck to all those students involved in the trial examinations in the coming weeks.

Have a great weekend!

Lee Towers, Head of School

Christmas Jumper Day

We will be participating in this year's Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children on Thursday 8 December. Look out for details in the coming weeks.

Christmas gift appeal

Could your business or staff donate toys and gifts to be given across the Nene Valley? Are you a parent/carer that would love to provide a gift to a child in the community? Alongside Nene Valley Church we have agreed to be a collection point for their Christmas shop appeal.

If you would like to donate to this appeal, items can be dropped off at our main reception up until Friday 2 December. Alternatively they have an Amazon wishlist that can be found here.

Unifrog - The complete destinations platform

In keeping with our commitment to provide students with outstanding careers guidance and tailored support when choosing their next step after school, we will now be using Unifrog; an award-winning, online careers platform. All students in Years 11, 12 and 13 now have access to this excellent website. Years 7-10 will follow later this academic year.

The Unifrog platform is designed to support learners in making the most informed decisions about their futures and has a range of tools that are suitable for all year groups. Each student has their own personal account that provides a wide range of information related to their interests and aspirations.

Students access the platform by clicking a link in their welcome email, where they create a password and can begin using the platform. They log in to Unifrog using their email address and password and they can do so from any computer, tablet or smartphone. We would encourage you to use the platform with your child so you can support them through the process of deciding their next step.

In time, we will set up a parent login so that you can use Unifrog as if you were a student yourself, allowing you to support your child throughout the process.

To find out more, please visit the Unifrog website: www.unifrog.org

Extra-curricular timetable

There will be no sports clubs taking place at lunchtime between 21 November and 2 December due to the Year 11 and 13 trial examinations.
