Northamptonshire Mental Health Awareness

This week Manor School has been supporting Northamptonshire’s mental health awareness initiative, which encourages people of all ages to ‘Talk Out Loud about Mental Health’.
The term ‘mental health’ refers to our emotional wellbeing and just like our physical health, we can experience positive and negative mental health. As a county Northamptonshire is working to address mental health stigma through their Talk Out Loud initiative, which aims to raise awareness amongst young people about mental health issues, stigma and where they can access help and support.
This year Talk Out Loud partnered with Northampton Town Football Club to say ‘Cobblers to mental health stigma’. Northamptonshire schools and companies were given a board for students and employees to fill with positive mental health messages. Our students contributed to the Manor School board during lunch time on Monday, where they also picked up wristbands provided by the initiative as a way to show their support. The boards were then united on Thursday to create a positive mental health ‘wall’ at Northampton Town FC’s football ground, showing the county’s support in promoting mental health awareness. You can watch a short video of the wall's unveiling via Talk Out Loud's Twitter page.
