Sixth Form success at Manor School

Manor School is exceptionally proud of our students following their determination, hard work and efforts in the first post-pandemic examination season. 

Of the awarded grades, nearly 30% of the grades were A*/A or equivalent, in a year when nationally grades are expected to return about halfway towards their pre-pandemic levels. Some brilliant results were achieved across the school including in biology, English literature, history, languages and psychology. Vocational courses also led to some excellent results in business, health & social care, food and music. 

Head of School, Lee Towers, said “This cohort has shown incredible resilience over the course of their A Level and GCSE study with their examinations cancelled in 2020, followed by the disruption of home learning during 2021. Students have rightfully had the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and understanding in their final examinations and these outcomes are a testament to their hard work and effort over their seven-year journey of secondary education. I would like to acknowledge the continued support from parents and carers and the dedication and commitment shown by all our staff.” 

Amongst these, stand out performances worthy of recognition include:

• Ella (A*, A*, A, A) who is going to study history and politics at the University of Nottingham 
• Alexandra (A*, A, A, A) who is going to study medicine at the University of Birmingham 
• Callum (A, A, A, A) who is going to study chemistry at the University of York 
• Aimee (A*, A*, A) who is going to study psychology at Newcastle University 
• Niamh (A*, A, A) who is going to study business and management at the University of York 
• Jack (3 x Distinction*) who is applying for the armed forces

33% of students going to university have been accepted onto courses at the country’s most selective universities. We are also delighted that a record number of students have secured degree level apprenticeships.
