Our academic provision is underpinned by an extensive care, guidance and support programme to provide a range of progression routes to meet the needs of all students.
All sixth form students have a target grade which is based on their average GCSE score. This should be regarded as a minimum target grade and students will be encouraged to aspire to exceed this target grade in all the courses they follow.
Student progress is assessed at regular intervals and subject teachers will discuss with students a range of strategies and targets to improve their performance. Tutors will also monitor student progress and contact parents regarding issues of concern as well as recognising success and achievement.
A structured programme is provided to help all students assess the most appropriate apprenticeship, employment and university opportunities available. Students will be supported by tutors and academic mentors throughout Year 12 and Year 13 to research and prepare applications, write UCAS personal statements and prepare themselves for interviews. A full programme of personal, social, health and careers education is provided with visiting speakers, workshops and trips.
There is financial assistance available for students from lower-income backgrounds. Students may qualify for a 16-19 Bursary if they meet certain criteria. For further details please contact Darren Carter, Assistant Principal, on 01933 623921 or email him on this link
